Bewick’s swan belongs
to the species of the tundra swan. It has a small body structure with gorgeous
look. It is the smallest of the Holarctic swans that
occur in the northern continents of the world. Its plumage is totally white, mostly black bill and also black feel. Such
a combination gives it the outstanding look and beauty.
This graceful white bird is one of
the two species of Cygnus
columbianu – Bewick’s swam
and whistling swam. It is named after the engraver Thomas Bewick, who specialised in
illustrations of birds. The scene
looks beautiful when Tundra Swans keep their necks straight On the water, and
in the air they fly with their necks outstretched. They often tip up to forage
in the manner of dabbling ducks. In the sky when they fly, they form large
flocks.
